About WASP
80s shock metal behind I Wanna Be Somebody.
WASP were one of the most notorious heavy metal bands of the 1980s. Led by Blackie Lawless, the Los Angeles group paired pummeling metal with shock rock theatrics that made them tabloid villains and metal heroes at once, with anthems like I Wanna Be Somebody and Wild Child.
Beyond the spectacle, they had the songs, peaking with the ambitious concept album The Crimson Idol. Decades on, Lawless still leads the band, and the catalog has earned a lasting place in metal history.
Live, WASP lean into the power and the drama, a loud, theatrical metal show. Headlining the Tulsa Theater, a grand old hall, makes for a fitting stage.
