About The Expendables
Santa Cruz reggae rock downtown.
Four friends started The Expendables in Santa Cruz, California in 1997. Geoff Weers on guitar and vocals, Adam Patterson on drums and vocals, Raul Bianchi on lead guitar and Ryan DeMars on bass, playing surf rock with the reggae turned up and a punk streak underneath. Twenty nine years later the lineup has held.
Their seventh album, Pleasure Point, came out on Ineffable Records and brought in Tech N9ne, HIRIE, Eric Rachmany and Iration's Micah Pueschel. The Get My FIX tour started in June and kept getting extended, which is how a summer run ends up in Oklahoma in late September.
They play The Vanguard on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 7:30 pm. The Vanguard is at 222 North Main in the Arts District, small and loud, and a band that built its name on outdoor amphitheater bills sounds different when the ceiling is six feet above the amps. That is usually an improvement.
