About Gretchen Wilson
Redneck Woman, twenty years later.
Gretchen Wilson has had a busy couple of years. She won The Masked Singer, mentored on The Road, and is now recutting the debut album that went five times platinum, all while running a tour she is calling Still Here for the Party. The title is doing some honest work.
Redneck Woman was 2004, and it did not so much chart as detonate. It won her a Grammy and gave country radio a voice it had not really had before, blunt and unbothered and not asking permission. Two decades on she still sings it like she means it, which is more than most people manage with a signature song.
She headlines Saturday at the Tunes and Spoons Music and Chili Festival, held at the Claremore Expo Center August 21 through 23. Admission is free, with limited paid VIP seating for the Saturday night set. Claremore is a thirty minute drive up Route 66, and this is the biggest name the festival has landed in its two years.
