About VILLANELLE
A buzzy new British trio reviving Nineties grunge.
Villanelle are one of the most talked about new bands in British rock. The trio formed in 2023 around singer and guitarist Gene Gallagher, son of Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, with Ben Taylor on guitar and Jack Schiavo on bass.
Their sound is a loud throwback to Nineties grunge and alternative, somewhere between Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Dinosaur Jr. They have only a couple of singles out so far, but the early songs and packed UK club shows have made them a band to watch heading into their first US run.
