Grand Funk Railroad were one of the biggest American rock bands of the 1970s. Formed in Flint, Michigan, they built a huge following on raw, bluesy hard rock and arena sized hooks, with anthems like We're an American Band and Some Kind of Wonderful that still get loud crowds singing.
They were famous for selling out arenas faster than almost anyone in their heyday, even as critics shrugged. Founding members Don Brewer and Mel Schacher still carry the band, and the catalog has aged into pure classic rock comfort food.
