About Danielle Nicole
The bassist behind Fireflies.
Danielle Nicole grew up in a blues family in Kansas City. Her father Bob Schnebelen played, her brothers Nick and Kris played, and in 2000 the three siblings started Trampled Under Foot together. She came out of that band as a bass player who sings, which is still a rarer thing on a blues stage than it should be.
Her new record is called Fireflies, out on Forty Below Records and produced by Tony Braunagel, following The Love You Bleed from 2024. She takes the band to Europe in November for a run through the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Belgium and the Czech Republic, so the American dates this fall are the ones close to home.
She plays The Vanguard on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 8 pm. The Vanguard is small and low ceilinged and the stage is right there, which is the correct setting for a player whose whole appeal is watching her hands. Saturday is crowded this week, and this is the early one, so it pairs well with a later night somewhere else.
