About Conjunto Rio Grande
Zacatecas norteño, five decades deep.
The accordion and the bajo sexto do the heavy lifting, and then the saxophones come in over the top. That combination is what separates Conjunto Rio Grande from most norteño groups working the circuit, and it has been their sound for a very long time.
They play Imperio Event Center on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 8 pm. Imperio has quietly become the room in Tulsa for touring regional Mexican acts, and a Friday night booking there fills up with families, not just the people who bought tickets first.
The band started in 1974 in San Lorenzo, in Rio Grande, Zacatecas. They spent their first stretch as Los Tremendos Salvajes and put out ten albums under that name before becoming Conjunto Rio Grande in 1996. Songs like Dados Cargados and Dementes came after the change. Fifty two years in, this is still a family group doing the same thing it set out to do.
