About Black Flag
Fifty years of American hardcore.
Black Flag turns fifty in 2026, and the band is marking it with a fall tour that runs from September 3 through November 1. Founding guitarist Greg Ginn leads the current lineup, with Max Zanelly singing, David Rodriguez on bass, and Bryce Weston on drums.
Ginn started the band in Hermosa Beach, California in 1976 and helped invent American hardcore doing it. He also built SST Records, the label that put out early albums by the Minutemen, Husker Du, and Sonic Youth. The logo of four black bars that his brother Raymond Pettibon drew is still on shirts everywhere.
The Shrine sits at 18th and Boston, a room of about 500 with a full bar and a big floor, 21 and over. That is close quarters for a band this loud, which is exactly the appeal. The show is October 11, 2026.
